doneKatie Barker said the following about the event,
“Just wanted to let everyone know what an amazing success Read for the Record was last night. We could not have done it without all of your help. Here are a few highlights:
· Roughly 300 people attended, over 130 families, for pizza, a Corduroy reading, and a free book gift pack.
· We had 14 guest readers including pilots, a police officer, FDHS football players, FDHS cheerleaders, Cat in the Hat, a nurse, a paramedic, SHS wrestling coach, a radio DJ, a sign language interpreter, Mr. Atkinson, and a former Miss Summerville.
· Mrs. Garcia and Mrs. Barajas did an awesome job. They translated the invitation into Spanish and personally invited families to the event. We had a total of 20 people in their room while they read Corduroy in Spanish. These families all received a copy of the book in Spanish as well.
· I will keep you posted about the breaking of the world record as the results are reported! Keep our fingers crossed.
